In the day and age of the mighty internet, it is hard to find surprises while traveling. Someone or the other has documented or photographed every little attraction. Perhaps that is why we enjoyed our trip to Azerbaijan so much – it was after a long time that we visited a country where there were surprises at every corner, and we met amazing people, saw natural wonders, visited the northernmost villages of Europe, and had some of the best meals we’ve had in a while traveling. Today, we will discuss best places to visit in Baku.

Azerbaijan has a distressed history. Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan has a re-emergence history of over a decade. Shopping malls, museums, monuments, luxury hotels, amusement parks, and much more, but on the other hand rushing out of Baku is like reconsidering into time. You will find historical gems without any other tourists in sight. Tourists completely untouched breathtaking miracles, and little mountain villages pleasingly seemed to have walked out of an abstract design.

After reaching Baku, you have multiple places to visit at an Airport named “Heydar Aliyev International Airport”. The only thing is that you must choose the first place you visit.  

Heydar Aliyev Center: 

On top of my list is Heydar Aliyev Center, which is a major tourist attraction in Baku. Tourists completely untouched breathtaking miracles, and pleasing little mountain villages seemed to have walked out of an abstract design. Moreover, they abstracted the design of this monument from waves. As you can see in the image, its distinctive fluid look of curves and waves stands out from everything you will find in this city. Inside Heydar Aliyev Center there is a conference hall, a gallery hall, and a museum.

Car museum:

There is also a car museum in the Heydar Aliyev Center, there is an amazing car collection in the museum. Heydar Aliyev Center is one of the best places to visit in Baku, Azerbaijan. Also, if you want to know the history of Azerbaijan, then you should explore the Heydar Aliyev Center. The first thing that came to my mind was, is Heydar Aliyev Center worth visiting? Well, the straight answer is yes, it’s worth it. It’s like a car mart.

Activities: There is a classic, heritage, and modern car collection. Occasionally, the museum also holds concerts, exhibitions, and gala nights. Above all, if you are not interested in attending the exhibition or concert, you can explore the museum to learn about the history of Heydar Aliyev. There is a park behind this center which is a pretty good place to hang out with friends and family or a great place to spend time alone in nature, and right at the front of the center, there is a sign in the park right in front of the Heydar Aliyev Center which represents “I Love Baku” and is also a great tourist attraction, where people take pictures as a memory. It’s one of the best places to travel in Baku.

The Flame Towers: 

The Flame Towers in Baku are three skyscrapers that play an impressive role in city modernity. As you can see in the image. The flame towers are famous for their sleek design. Their design looks like a fire rushing out of the land. Moreover, the flame towers at night look different. Night increases their presence and beauty. Also, the towers have large screens that show different things like Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. One can also see the waving flag feature on the screens.

The towers fascinated me because of their height and elegant blue design. The flame towers symbolize the elements of fire, and it refers the Azerbaijan’s nickname “The Land of Fire”. I liked the structure of the towers and their elegant design. Moreover, the architecture has built it perfectly, the towers also have luxury hotels in them. You can book the rooms according to your schedule.

Azerbaijan Carpet Museum: 

When we discuss carpets, we can’t forget the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum. The Carpet Museum is famous for its graceful design and is known for its elegance in the world of Azerbaijani Carpets. Join us on a journey where art, history, and culture are intricately woven together. As you can see in the image the design of the museum is like a carpet, which makes it look different.

You will see Azerbaijani carpets from homes to offices. In the museum, you can make the carpets according to your design with the highly skilled carpet makers, who will make the carpet of your design in no time. Moreover, some artisans create special carpets exclusively for auctions, selling them at higher rates.

These exquisite carpets, which may be gold-plated or adorned with gemstones and diamonds, are exported worldwide. This museum is the world’s first carpet museum, showcasing these unique creations. From the first day of the museum. Moreover, the National Carpet Museum pays great attention to the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. The museum has four different collections of carpets. “Guba-Shirvan, Ganja-Kazakh, Karabakh and Tabriz”. However, these are the most famous types of carpets, and a huge variety is available in the Museum with over 600 designs. It’s one of the best places to travel inn Baku.

Mini Venice: 

Italy is famous for its city named Venice, also known as ‘The City of Water’. Just like Italy, Azerbaijan also has a city of water called ‘Mini Venice’. The city features man-made water canals surrounded by a garden. And from the boat, you can see the flame towers right in front of you. There is also a little bridge connecting both sides of the canal, and when the boat passes under the bridge it looks so charming. You should surely visit the Mini Venice; you will love that place. 

Baku Eye:  

The Baku Eye, also known as the Baku Ferris Wheel, stands as a renowned tourist attraction situated at Baku City Devil’s Wheel Park. The Baku Eye is the best way to get a bird’s eye view of the city. Moreover, there are multiple cabins for the Ferris wheel, which you can reserve days before your visit, or you can buy the tickets at the moment. Once on board, you can have a great view of multiple attractions like Heydar Aliyev Center, the carpet museum, Flame Towers, and many other tourist places. You can also have a great view of the Caspian Sea. You can see ships in the sea, which is a very pleasant scene. Also, you can have a sunset view from the Baku-eye. It’s one of the best places to travel in Baku.

The Food:  

In addition, while traveling our main concern is getting quality and tasty food. Furthermore, the good thing is that Baku has both options, either you go vegetarian or be a meat munch. As a vegetarian, you have some delightful dishes like Khayle, Dova, Qutab with herbs, and many other options. On the other hand, it’s complete heaven for meat lovers. Some famous meat dishes in Azerbaijan are Kebabs (which can be made of chicken or mutton), Korma, Dolma, Baglama, Soyutma, etc. Moreover, Azerbaijan also has vast options for sweets, such as Baklava, Sheker Bura, Gogal, Bamiyan, Khyata, and Keta.
